inoflamm - Responsible fire prevention

From statistics it is known that far more than 90 % of the lives claimed by fire are not caused by the flames but by the emission of corrosive and toxic gases. A noteworthy part of the gases are emitted from organic compounds used for fire prevention. Such compounds are used instead of inorganic materials because of there better properties such as their good adhesion to different type of surfaces, their easy way of application and their weathering stability. But anyway both organic and inorganic type of flame retardants have severe disadvantages.

inomat has developed water born silicate type of inorganic binder called ino®flamm, which provides the possibility for the preparation of low-emission paints for fire prevention for in-door and out-door use.

The principle and its advantages in keywords:  

 

water-born silicat-type of binder

  • formation of a dense glass-like film in case of fire
  • hydrophobic and weathering stable
  • halide-free (< 50 ppm)
  • no toxic or corrosive emissions in case of fire

providing excellent fire prevention products

  • low density of about 100 kg·m-3
  • low thermal conductivity (< 0.05 W·m-1·K-1)
 

 

ino®flamm is in industrial use since 2007. Product samples are fire preventing mortar, fire prevention in the casting industry, fire prevention in shipbuilding.
